Waste Compaction Solutions for Oil & Marine Environments

Offshore platforms, vessels, and barges generate significant waste in some of the harshest conditions on earth. KenBay's RotoPac SeaPac is built to handle it — rated for corrosion, saltwater exposure, and continuous duty where standard equipment simply won't survive.

Marine and Offshore Waste Management Is a Unique Problem

The challenges of managing waste on a vessel or offshore platform are fundamentally different from anything on a standard industrial floor. Space is scarce, the environment is hostile, and waste can't simply be wheeled to a dumpster at the end of the shift.

Oil platforms, navy vessels, barges, and chemical processing facilities near water share a common challenge: they generate large, continuous volumes of waste in environments that are space-constrained, corrosive, and far from the nearest dumpster. Waste that can't be removed immediately has to be stored — and on a vessel or offshore platform, storage space is one of the most valuable resources there is.

Standard compactors use painted steel, unsealed electrical components, and motors not rated for saltwater or high-humidity environments. In marine and offshore conditions, this means rapid corrosion, equipment failure, and costly downtime in locations where replacement parts and service are not easily accessible.

On a vessel or offshore platform, every square foot matters. Bulky waste containers, overflowing bins, and large roll-offs consume space that simply isn't available — and waste that isn't compacted has to be stored in volume until it can be transported to shore.

Offshore and marine environments present real environmental compliance responsibilities. Waste management at sea is governed by MARPOL and other international regulations — and facilities are expected to demonstrate that waste is being properly contained and handled, not discharged.

Built for Compliance-Driven, High-Cleanliness Environments

The RotoPac SeaPac is constructed entirely of 316L stainless steel — including the frame, drum, compaction arm, doors, hood, and cabinet assembly — with all components sealed and rated for the environment. NEMA 4X electrical components and a silicon-sealed control panel protect against oil, dust, and water. Teflon bushings and slide strips ensure nothing corrodes, even in continuous saltwater exposure.

The SeaPac has the same pallet-sized footprint as the standard RotoPac, making it deployable in even the most space-constrained environments. Its 6:1 compaction ratio means waste is consolidated into sealed 4-foot cube bags — manageable, stackable, and easy to store until transport. On a barge housing nearly 300 people generating 10 lbs of waste per person per day, two SeaPac units were enough to keep waste under control in a fraction of the space alternative solutions would require.

The SeaPac compacts waste into fully sealed polyethylene bags that contain odors, prevent leakage, and support documented, shore-based disposal — helping facilities meet environmental compliance obligations without adding operational complexity.

A Partner Built for Environments Where Equipment Has to Last

KenBay understands that marine and offshore environments don't tolerate equipment that cuts corners on materials or construction. When a compactor fails on an offshore platform, you can't call for next-day service — which is why we build the SeaPac to the highest applicable standards from the start, and why our team works directly with client engineering teams to ensure every deployment is configured correctly for its environment.

We back every unit with same-day service response for shore-based support, and we stand behind our equipment long after installation.

A naval facility's paint shop generating hazardous waste in tri-wall boxes was facing significant hauling costs for disposal. A RotoPac HazPac with 6:1 compaction was installed, reducing the number of tri-wall boxes required by a factor of six — and generating verified savings of $29,000 per year in hauling costs alone.
