Clydesdale Users
By Industry
Manufacturing Industry
The manufacturing industry uses the Clydesdale for every type
of application, compacting almost all types of wet and dry waste
imaginable, as well as general waste including styrofoam, plastic
strips, super sacks in the food industry, and waste trim from
machining processes to name a few. It also helps pay for itself and
reduce dumpster pulls by recycling electronic products, plastics and
corrugated paper. Many manufacturing and assembly processes find
they are experiencing the following benefits from the use of the
unique KenBay Clydesdale compactor:
- Saves
valuable floor space.
- Keeps
environment clean by compacting into a bag that is sealed when
full.
- Reduces
waste handling by compacting at the source of the waste
resulting in labor savings.
- Improves
safety through ease of use, reduced traffic removing waste and
safety features of the Clydesdale.
“When companies compact their waste right at the source of
its generation there are two immediate benefits: first, it cleans up
the worksite and promotes hygiene and cleanliness, especially if wet
waste is combined with other waste; second, it saves money by
reducing labor and increasing dumpster capacity,” Sharma
Pillalamarri of the Bakery Industry Technical & Management
Advisor writes.
The most prominent application for the Clydesdale in the food
industry is that of disposing of those ubiquitous 50 lb. bags in
which ingredients are shipped. Bakeries, in particular, place the
Clydesdale where these bags are emptied into it in the production
line, nearly eliminating all labor necessary to remove the bags from
the floor. In other food processing plants, the Clydesdale, located
at the start of the production process, compacts corrugated boxes
where meat and other ingredients are received and in many cases the
corrugate is recycled for rebates.
Many printing companies use the Clydesdale for compacting
trim being blown into it by a stitcher or trimmer. They receive
several benefits from the use of the Clydesdale: 1) freeing up
valuable employee time from as much as 12 hours per day to 30
minutes, 2) reclaiming floor space that waste was occupying and 3)
enhancing or developing environmental and/or recycling programs.
In a similar application, companies making pressure sensitive
materials bring waste into the Clydesdale through a pneumatic
system.
Distribution Industry
The Clydesdale has proven to be effective in the distribution
industry. Whether clients are saving a loading dock bay, saving
energy by not opening doors to remove trash in cold weather,
recycling plastic and/or corrugated boxes or reducing labor costs,
the Clydesdale saves money and time. In fact, Industrial
Distribution in their “Solid Outlook for ’05” article (Jan.
05), stated; “There really has been a trend to favor substituting
machines for workers. As interest rates rise, it will be even more
cost effective to introduce more labor saving equipment.”
